The Taxpayers Protection Alliance Foundation (TPAF) recently released a map revealing the taxpayer impact of the more than 200 municipal broadband networks throughout the United States. The map doesn’t highlight any networks in Mississippi—a blessing for taxpayers in the Magnolia State—but there are rumblings that a few Mississippi cities are considering government-owned networks. That would be a mistake. Looking at the website and the failures across the country, the message to policymakers is clear, please don’t bring this financial mess to Mississippi!
