Jackson, MS – Mississippi Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney was recently appointed to several important committees and task forces that serve the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
Chaney, now serving his third term as Mississippi Commissioner, is a member of the NAIC Executive committee and was named Vice-Chair of the Southeastern Zone Executive Committee. He was also named to the Property and Casualty (C) Committee, the Market Regulation and Consumer Affairs (D) Committee, and the NAIC/Consumer Liaison Committee.
In addition to committee appointments, Chaney will also serve on a number of task forces addressing various issues affecting the insurance industry. He will be part of the Health and Managed Care (B) Committee Regulatory Framework and Senior Issues Task Forces; the Property and Casualty (C) Committee Surplus Lines Task Force; the Market Regulation and Consumer Affairs (D) Committee Anti-Fraud Task Force; and the Financial Condition (E) Committee Accounting Practices and Procedures and Examination Oversight Task Forces.
“Serving on these committees and task forces helps our department stay up to date on the challenges that we face as a regulator such as the Affordable Care Act, Cybersecurity, Dodd-Frank, and offers the opportunity to provide input on policies that shape the ever changing regulatory environment,” Chaney said.
