Pay raises raise ire of lawmakers
A report requested by lawmakers and making the rounds at the Capitol shows that from July 2016 to November 2016 — less than half of the current fiscal year — 74 state agencies or sub-agencies have given $12.4 million in raises to 3,396 employees, including 142 raises of $10,000 a year or more. Some lawmakers are perturbed to see so many raises when they are having to slash state agency spending because of revenue shortfalls.
