Columbus mayor draws challenger; all council seek reelection

Nine people submit statements in Columbus for elections

Mayor Robert Smith will seek re-election. Former Police Chief Selvain McQueen is also running in the race for mayor.

In Ward four, Pierre Beard is running for the council seat as well as Lavonne Harris who is the president of the Lowndes County NAACP.

In all other wards, the incumbents have submitted their qualifying statements of intent.
