Bryant studies options for budget shortfall
Sources estimate the state will end the fiscal year on June 30 with a shortfall of between $60 million and $75 million in a budget of about $6.34 billion.
That shortfall has many surmising that Gov. Phil Bryant will have to call a special session in the coming days for the Legislature to take steps to balance the budget.
Various sources have said that Bryant’s staff is looking for ways to deal with the likely shortfall, including the possibility of finding methods to address the issue without calling the special session.
