Republicans to try to keep state red
Despite the unpredictability of this year’s election, most still believe Mississippi will be reliably Republican.
“I said months ago that regardless of who ended up as our nominee, I expected Mississippi to robustly support that candidate over Hillary Clinton,” said Joe Nosef, chair of the Mississippi Republican Party. “Now with Donald Trump as our presumptive nominee, I have no change in that feeling. In fact, while Republicans have avoided the prospect of a contested convention, the Democrats have not. So while our party begins the process of unifying around our nominee, the Democrats will continue to be more divided and more at odds with each passing day.”…
…A Mason-Dixon poll released in early April gave Trump a narrow 46-43 lead in Mississippi. While only one poll, it suggests the November election could be closer than recent presidential elections in Mississippi.
