Miss. Democratic lawmakers wage protest again
Blackmon used a bill that would have provided grants to rural hospitals as an example of legislation that was never taken up by the Senate chairman.
“Amendments and debate have not been allowed,” Blackmon said.
Fellow Democrat Sen. Hob Bryan of Amory said at least on the floor, Senate rules have been followed.
“There has been no restriction on her offering amendments … There’s been no attempt to limit her debate,” Bryan said.
Blackmon also said bills were being read too fast, but Bryan said they have not “even been close to reading at a speed that’s indecipherable.”
