Hinds & Madison Counties Certify Walter Michel Winner of Senate District 25
As of Friday, March 18th, the election commissions from both Hinds and Madison Counties have certified Walter Michel as the winner of the March 8th special election for Senate District 25.
In response, Senator-Elect Walter Michel offered the following statement:
“I am grateful to the voters of Hinds and Madison Counties for this humbling result. I want to thank Bill Billingsley for his great integrity and for running a hard fought campaign that was focused on the issues affecting Mississippians. Bill is a good friend and I hope that he will continue to provide his leadership to our state.
I want to thank the Hinds and Madison County Election Commissions for their hard work over the past two weeks. It is a thankless job but we would not have a fair election process without their dedication.
I also want to take a moment to thank the countless individuals who helped my campaign. Without their support, phone calls, hours knocking on doors and putting up yard signs, this result simply would not be possible. I am looking forward to getting to work at the Capitol.”
