Daily Journal editorial encourages #Initiative42 backers

By: Magnolia Tribune - November 9, 2015

DAILY JOURNAL: OUR OPINION: Opportunities await better schools backers

The experience gained by full-funding supporters is portable, and the effort can move forward with the substantial strength of numbers in the vote for Initiative 42, which outpolled the legislative alternative 42A by a wide margin.

Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and Speaker of the House Philip Gunn, who opposed 42, said Wednesday they appreciated the passion of 42’s supporters.

We need to set aside the bad blood created by the full-throated 42/42A campaign, and seek to define common ground in support of public schools and their “adequate” funding under MAEP, legislatively enacted in 1997, but fully funded only twice.
