One vote separates Madison Co. Sup and challenger

By: Magnolia Tribune - November 6, 2015

Madison County supervisor race tied

The toss of a coin could decide Madison County’s District 4 supervisor election.

Incumbent Karl Banks and Republican challenger David Bishop are locked in an unofficial tie.

When that happens, according to Mississippi law, either the toss of a coin or the drawing of straws decides the outcome.

Tuesday afternoon, after two days of massive confusion and missing ballots, Bishop was one vote ahead of Banks. However, a voter ID affidavit remained uncounted. In order for the vote to be counted, the voter had to come to the Madison County Courthouse and show her proof of identification.
