USM Eagle PAC endorses Lt. Gov. Reeves

JACKSON – The University of Southern Mississippi’s Eagle PAC announced today its endorsement of Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves’ re-election. Lt. Gov. Reeves fought for more funding for universities and other priorities to strengthen the state’s workforce.

Eagle PAC is a coalition of USM alumni and supporters, who advocate for investment in the South Mississippi university and higher education, generally.

“Tate has been a strong supporter of Southern Miss and all of our public universities,” Troy Johnston, President of Eagle PAC. “In particular, he was instrumental in ensuring that our new College of Nursing building was funded. Southern Miss and all of the state’s universities can count on Tate to continue moving Mississippi forward to make it a better place, and Eagle PAC is proud to support him.”

Under Lt. Gov. Reeves’ leadership, Mississippi has funded public education at record levels with a $400 million increase over the past four years. He also supported a three-year plan to responsibly address the maintenance of university campuses.

He supported USM’s efforts to improve health care in Mississippi by funding a new School of Nursing. He also recognizes the importance of USM’s Gulf Coast facilities for research and protection of marine life and other coastal natural resources.

“USM plays an important role in the economic health of South Mississippi, and I am proud to have the support of the Eagle PAC,” Lt. Gov. Reeves said. “I will continue to push to increase funding for universities and support more public-private partnerships that place young Mississippians on the job market with sharp skills.”
