NAACP to Mississippi: Take down state flag with Confederate emblem
Delegates to the NAACP national convention are expected to consider a resolution Tuesday urging Mississippi’s leaders to remove from public places the state flag with its Confederate emblem.
“We’ve been pushing to make sure that the battle flag is put into its proper perspective,” said Hilary Shelton, the NAACP’s senior vice president for policy and advocacy in Washington. “We don’t want to pretend it doesn’t exist. We want to make sure it is put into proper perspective.
