Lawmakers debate removing Miss. flag … in Oregon
There’s legislation in the Oregon statehouse to remove Mississippi’s flag from a display because of its Confederate battle emblem.
The Oregonian reports that 24 of 60 House members in Salem, Oregon, have signed on to legislation to remove Mississippi’s flag and replace it with a magnolia tree design Mississippi used before the current one with a Confederate battle emblem was adopted in 1894. The Magnolia State’s flag flies at a Walk of States display outside the Oregon state Capitol.
