#MS01 runoff absentee balloting begins

By: Magnolia Tribune - May 21, 2015

Absentee voting in congressional runoff begins

The run-off will be June 2 with Union Countians again voting at all 20 precincts. The winner this time will complete the remaining year and a half of Nunnelee’s term.

Circuit Clerk Stanford expected to have absentee ballots ready after the May 12 total was certified this week.

Her office is scheduled to be open from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday and the following Saturday, May 30, for the convenience of absentee voters who are unable to get to the courthouse during regular business hours Monday through Friday.

Special elections traditionally have low turnouts, as do runoffs, so Union County participation could be even lower than the 25 percent of 16,011 registered voters who when to the polls May 12.
