Cassidy picks up conservative support in Senate runoff against Landrieu
Mississippi Sen. Roger Wicker, who was elected Thursday to head the National Republican Senatorial Committee, said “there’s no question’’ support from tea party groups will help Cassidy.
“I appreciate the various points of view coming together, including elected officials, including tea party people – both points of view represent the need for change in Washington and in the Senate,‘’ said Wicker, who takes over the NRSC chairmanship in January.
The NRSC, which is coming off a successful election, helps get GOP candidates elected to the Senate. The committee staff will remain in place through the Louisiana runoff, Wicker said.
