Bryant tours Tupelo tornado damage

Mississippi governor tours Tupelo damage

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant stopped in Tupelo this morning to tour damage from Monday’s tornado.

He says 131 residences were damaged, along with numerous businesses in Lee County.

Bryant says the storm crossed parts of Lee, Pontotoc and Itawamba County.

Candace Blansett, 39, of Pontotoc died when her car left the roadway during the storm and crashed on Palmetto Road near Verona.

Many power lines and trees were down in the area also. Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says County Road 811 is closed until further notice.
