#DMR: Scott Walker sentencing pushed back to July 23

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 29, 2014

Scott Walker sentencing rescheduled for July 23

Ocean Springs businessman Scott Walker will be sentenced at 2 p.m. July 23 on conspiracy to defraud the government and fraud.Walker’s attorney filed a motion Monday asking for a six-week delay in sentencing so that Walker and the U.S. Attorney’s Office could resolve some sentencing issues.

Judge Keith Starrett granted the motion Monday afternoon, rescheduling the sentencing for July 23 in Hattiesburg.

Walker pleaded guilty in February to one charge of conspiracy to defraud the government and a second charge of fraud.

The conspiracy charge resulted from an investigation that also netted his father, former Department of Marine Resources Director Bill Walker, and two former DMR managers. The managers have maintained their innocence, but Bill Walker also has pleaded guilty to the conspiracy charge. He is scheduled to be sentenced June 5.
