Changes to Homestead Exemption not likely

By: Magnolia Tribune - January 23, 2014

And hours after the bill passed committee, word went out that it would be“re-committed,” or sent back to committee, a likely sign it’s chances of passage are slim.

“It’s not going to make it,” said the bill’s author, Rep. Gary Chism, R-Columbus, after the House leadership decided to recommit it, ostensibly for a drafting error. “You won’t see it again. Really, it’s just too much money. It interfered with everybody’s plans. It would take money that might go for a teacher pay raise or other plans.”
