Jackson County awards contracts for building at Ingalls maritime training academy
The Jackson County supervisors today hired a grant administrator, engineer and architect for a basic skills training annex addition on Ingalls Shipbuilding’s Haley Reeves Barbour Maritime Training Academy.
A $1.3 million Hurricane Katrina-related community development block grant will fund the project, supervisors said.
The extra room “will help in the process of Ingalls training our future shipbuilders and workforce,” board President Mike Mangum said.
The professional services contracts were awarded to Gouras & Associates, Compton Engineering Inc. and Burk-Kleinpeter-Lunsford Engineers/Architect.
