Nissan’s Canton plant ground zero for newest union war

Nissan’s Canton plant is a shining beacon that put Mississippi on the map for auto manufacturing. But now, the site has become a battle line for the newest union war.

Last month, National Union Metal Workers of South Africa came to Canton to support Nissan workers in their fight for a union. Even Hollywood actor Danny Glover has gotten involved.

“Nissan issued a statement saying that they’re not intimidating their workers, that they haven’t been threatening them,” Glover said in January.

Glover claims someone at the Nissan Canton plant had been intimidating workers to stay away from unions. The company denied the accusations.
