Hobnobbers cheer on state’s fiscal rebound

Mississippi’s top political and business leaders cheered the state’s economic recovery Thursday in one of the more celebratory MEC Hobnobs in recent memory, from the rousing rhetoric right down to the revelatory tunes blasted between each speech.

“Happy Days are Here Again,” anyone?

Mississippi Economic Council Chairman Blake Wilson called Mississippi one of the best pro-business states in the nation. Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann all but declared the recession over. Gov. Phil Bryant predicted major economic growth.

That’s pretty positive news from the podium. Event-goers had similar assessments.
