New steel facility expansion opens
in Mississippi

Attala Steel Industries officially opened its new steel galvanizing facility in Kosciusko, Miss., a project that will create 20 jobs in the area.

Attala invested $5 million in the project, which added a 30,000-square-foot facility to the company’s existing operation that manufactures and fabricates steel I beams that are used in utility-scale solar installations in the U.S. and several foreign countries. The company currently employs 34, and nine of the new jobs have already been filled. Attala has been in Kosciusko since 2006.

“Attala Steel’s expansion is another great sign that the economy in Mississippi is getting stronger,” Brent Christensen, executive director of the Mississippi Development Authority, said in a statement.
