Longwitz said he was “honoring” fellow representatives of North Jackson, and doesn’t see how it’s an issue. Other special guests listed for the event were Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann and state Republican Party Chairman Joe Nosef, both of whom attended, Longwitz said.
“I’m a little surprised anybody would be bothered by being honored like that,” Longwitz said. “When the chairman (Nosef) introduced me last night, his main comment was how much I had done in the little time I’ve been in office to promote unity among Republicans. I think Republicans should be working together.”
