Council rejects DuPree’s latest election commission nominees

Hattiesburg’s special mayoral election set for Sept. 24 will have a different clerk overseeing the process tallying the ballots.

And if an attorney general’s opinion issued verbally late Tuesday stands, the entire election commission will be comprised of five, new members.

During Tuesday’s city council meeting, Mayor Johnny DuPree said that City Clerk Eddie Myers’ tenure would end at the close of business Friday.
