Gipson: NRA to get involved in Mississippi open gun carry fight

Just spoke to House Judiciary Chairman Andy Gipson, R-Braxton, author of House Bill 2, about the judge’s order today blocking the bill becoming law because of debate over open carry of guns in Mississippi.

State Sen. John Horhn, D-Jackson, who helped lead the charge to block HB2 from becoming law, has scheduled a press conference for this afternoon on the ruling.

Gipson said he’s gotten confirmation the National Rifle Association is going to file an amicus brief in support of the state’s imminent appeal to the state Supreme Court. That should make things even more interesting.

“The do see this as a matter of constitutional gun rights being threatened,” Gipson said.
