Flaggs Sounds Off Against Democratic Leadership’s Medicaid Reauthorization Gambit

Rep. George Flaggs, D-Vicksburg, is not overly pleased with the strong-arm approach his colleagues are taking to get a Medicaid reauthorization bill passed.

“What we ought to be doing is getting back to the table and trying to build a consensus,” Flaggs said in response to hearing that more than 30 of his Democratic colleagues are expected to file similar resolutions to what he filed.

Flaggs said today that he was filing a resolution to suspend House rules so that the Senate’s Medicaid reauthorization bill could be reconsidered. Flaggs said he spoke to Democratic Minority Leader Bobby Moak, D-Bogue Chitto, about the plan on Friday.

“I’ve not talked to Bobby since then, so I don’t know what’s going on,” Flaggs said today.
