After I received the news that Rep. David Gibbs was seeking to have his resignation, which was submitted 24 hours earlier, rescinded, I went looking for something that would tell me this was common practice. As I suspected, there were very few references of such a scenario.
I then went back in my mind to 2 weeks ago when Hinds County Supervisor Doug Anderson rescinded his resignation that he had submitted just before the Christmas holidays. While the details are not fully known at this time, I feel this sets an unfortunate precedent.
