Stacey Pickering Pursues Charges Against Prosecutor

Pearl River County prosecutor Aaron Larue Russell Jr. is scheduled to be in justice court on Dec. 21 for an initial appearance on two counts of alteration or falsification of records.
The charges were filed by State Auditor Stacey Pickering’s office this past week.
Russell is free on his own recognizance.
Pickering spokeswoman Lisa Shoemaker says the case remains an ongoing investigation.
Affidavits filed against Russell allege he accepted money from defendants to drop charges in two separate cases. Russell allegedly altered documents and made false entries in court records to show charges were dropped at the request law enforcement agencies when no such request was made.
The affidavits allege both incidents occurred in September.
