Attorney – Sanction Jim Hood over campaign ads
A Coast lawyer has asked the Mississippi Bar Association to consider his ethics complaint against Attorney General Jim Hood even though his client, alleged priest-killer Jeremy Manieri, has died.
Brian Alexander wants Hood sanctioned for comments he made about Manieri in televised political ads when Hood ran for re-election against Steve Simpson in 2011.
Simpson, a former circuit judge, had sentenced Manieri to two years on a guilty plea to child molestation in 2006. During the 2011 campaign, Manieri was held pending a grand jury review on charges of fatally shooting a priest in Waveland and stealing the cleric’s car.
