Lawmakers discuss top issues facing state
Redistricting and the state’s finances are two top issues facing local legislators in Jackson.
Senators Joey Fillingane, John Polk and Representatives Hank Lott and Percy Watson spoke Monday at the Area Development Partnership’s Pastries and Politics. Each talked about general and specific hot-button issues going on in Jackson.
Fillingane, R-Sumrall, said leaders are moving forward on redistricting and plan to meet with map drawers in the next few weeks.
“I do think there will be a plan this year. Hopefully we can get as much done as quickly as possible so people can see and study their maps and see who will be representing them,” Fillingane said.
