Dissent does help legislative end results
The new Republican leaders of the Legislature are rolling right along with their political initiatives.
The Mississippi House has approved a bill to clip the wings of Attorney General Jim Hood, the only Democratic statewide official and a longtime GOP nemesis.The Senate last week approved a charter school bill, a long-sought GOP plan.
They already have changed the rules to give more control over the budget process and are talking about favorite political hot-button issues like anti-immigration bills and reviving the so-called “personhood” initiative.
