House GOP backs Snowden for speaker pro tempore

Rep. Philip Gunn, R-Clinton, who is the GOP’s choice for speaker, chose the Meridian Republican to take the pro tempore position. House Republicans voted unanimously in his support Thursday.
“I am thrilled and excited, of course,” Snowden said. “I’m very humbled that (Gunn), who is a close friend and a colleague, would have enough confidence in me to suggest me for this.”
