Palazzo to host Academy Day on Saturday
Congressman Steven Palazzo will present Academy Day 2011 on Saturday at the Thad Cochran Center at the University of Southern Mississippi.
The event will run from 8 a.m.-noon. Registration is from 8-8:30 a.m.
Those attending will have the opportunity to meet representatives from the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, USM Army and Air Force ROTCs and Ole Miss Navy ROTC.
“I am proud to host students from all parts of the state this Saturday on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi,” Palazzo said in a prepared statement. “The service academies and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) prepare our youth to be leaders of men and women. Academy Day is an opportunity for high school students to learn more about the application and nominating process to the service academies and joining ROTC. As someone who entered the Marine Corps after high school, I am looking forward to helping these students begin their service in defense of our country.”
