Funeral home closes amid Secretary of State investigation
VICKSBURG, MS (WLBT) –
A Vicksburg funeral home has stopped operating, and now some burial policy holders are worried.
The Secretary of State’s Office is investigating Williams Funeral Home and ordered the owner to stop selling certain policies.
The doors are closed at Williams Funeral Home on Washington Street where Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann has ordered Matthew Williams Jr. to cease and desist selling pre-need contracts.
In 2007 the agency received a complaint regarding pre-need practices and began an investigation.
In September of 2008 they issued the order and imposed a penalty.
