Johnny Dupree reports $235K COH

By: Magnolia Tribune - October 11, 2011

The DuPree for Governor campaign today released the following statements in reference to campaign finance report filings:

“I’m inspired and encouraged by the more than 2,000 people who have contributed their hard-earned money to this campaign,” DuPree said. “I’m even more excited about the more than 24,000 volunteers who have reached out to more than 85,000 voters during this campaign by knocking on doors or making phone calls. It’s because of their hard work that our message is reaching so many.”

To date, the DuPree campaign has had more than 24,300 people volunteer throughout the state. They have approximately 500 active volunteers each week.

“These are people who are inspired to give whatever time they have to making sure every voter in Mississippi knows Johnny DuPree, understands his history of job creation and never raising taxes, and will go vote for Johnny DuPree as the next governor on Nov. 8,” said Sam Hall, campaign manager.

The DuPree campaign raised more than $225,000 this period and has more than $235,000 cash-on-hand.

“The only time I’ve ever raised more money than my opponent is when I ran unopposed,” DuPree said. “Money doesn’t win elections. People win elections. And we’ve got hard-working, excited people working for us. So I’m thrilled with where we are and where we are headed.”

Mayor DuPree is serving his third term as mayor of Hattiesburg. Prior to that he served three terms as a member of the Forrest County Board of Supervisors and one term as president of the Hattiesburg School Board. He is a former president of the Mississippi Municipal League. Mayor DuPree is also a small business owner and real estate agent.
