STATEMENT OF GOV. BARBOUR ON
BUDGET CONTROL ACT OF 2011

“The House’s two?step proposal linking any increase to the debt ceiling to a larger reduction in spending is common sense. The plan ensures more than a dollar in spending reductions for every dollar increase in the debt ceiling, and its design guarantees that these spending reductions actually occur before any increase in the debt limit occurs. This is a responsible, bipartisan plan that should earn the support of all Members of Congress.”
