Cecil Brown In The Running for Speaker
Rep. Cecil Brown (D-Jackson) is the second member of Billy McCoy’s leadership team in the House to announce his intention to run for Speaker, according to Bobby Harrison with the Daily Journal. Brown has written a letter to members informing them of his decision.
On the Democratic side, the most prominent- and only announced- candidate for some time now has been Rep. Bobby Moak (D-Bogue Chitto). This guarantees their will be a battle within the Democratic caucus, and we’re still waiting to see if a Black Caucus member steps forward to run.
