Former MS football great endorses Bill Luckett

By: Magnolia Tribune - July 15, 2011

DUPREE ENDORSES LUCKETT FOR GOVERNOR

Marcus Dupree, one of Mississippi’s most celebrated athletes, endorsed Bill Luckett today in the Democratic Primary.
Dupree said, “I’m supporting Bill Luckett for governor because he is the right person to move Mississippi forward. He will make education and job creation his top priority in Jackson and will work toward a better future for all Mississippians. After over fifty years, since his Boy Scout days, serving his community, he’s ready to serve the state. And with his proven record of success, I know he’ll get the job done.”

Dupree is originally from Philadelphia, Mississippi and made football history as one of the most highly recruited high school players. The Courting of Marcus Dupree, by Willie Morris, is a testament to college football programs’ pursuit of his talent. He attended college at both Oklahoma University and University of Southern Mississippi, and now works to help clean up our coast after the BP oil spill.
