Dennis touts business background
“As you’re hiring a governor, you’re hiring a chief executive for the State of Mississippi — the chief salesman and the person who’s going to be negotiating with people to get jobs,” he said.
Though he didn’t name anyone, Dennis managed to get in a veiled dig at his main opponent in the Aug. 2 Republican primary, Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant, saying, “You can’t call me a career politician.”
But he spoke highly of Barbour, saying that when the term-limited governor is gone, “there’s going to be a tremendous leadership void in this state, an unbelievable leadership void. …
“That’s going to be a void that’s got to be filled, hopefully, by somebody who understands business, who understands the way things work,” he said. “That’s the skill set we come from.”
