Hampton – Bryant would make weak Gov. recent politics shows
Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant is considered, at least at this early date, to be the leading candidate for the GOP nomination for governor and ultimately to win the office.
However, his actions this past legislative session, with Barbour mostly out of state and running for president, has shown his probable inability to exercise strong executive power.
Byrant has enjoyed victories in the Senate mostly on Barbour’s coattails. With Barbour out of the picture, things got more difficult and it has shown.
