Media cuts off Bennie Thompson before opening remarks on hearings
All three major cable news networks – Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN – aired Rep. Peter King’s (R-NY) opening statement at his controversial anti-Muslim congressional hearing, but then cut away before Bennie Thompson (D-MS), the ranking member of the committee, began his remarks.
In his statement, Thompson suggested the committee’s focus was too narrow and referenced the recent arrest of an alleged white supremacist for the attempted bombing of a Martin Luther King Day parade in Spokane, WA. Thompson also warned that the hearing could damage the fight against terrorism.
