5 Mississippians to watch in 2011
We media types like lists and bulleted items. So here’s my list of five people to watch in 2011:
Mayor Johnny DuPree – If the Democratic Party primary for governor was held today, DuPree would likely meet Clarksdale businessman Bill Luckett.
A campaign involving those two could be fun to watch. The first shot was fired by Luckett in October when he kicked off his statewide tour to drum up support and raise money by bringing actor Morgan Freeman to Hattiesburg. The event was in the Jackie Dole Sherrill Community Center just across the street from DuPree’s office in City Hall.
Congressman-elect Steven Palazzo – The Republican from Gulfport knocked off Democrat Gene Taylor in the November general election in the political upset of the year.
