Editorial: Chairman Doug Davis
DeSoto County’s state legislative delegation has gained a tremendous boost in prestige with Sen. Doug Davis being named chairman of the Mississippi Senate’s Appropriations Committee.
Being named chairman of the powerful committee at age 33 is quite an accomplishment for the Hernando Republican.
Davis, who had been serving as the committee’s vice chairman, replaces Alan Nunnelee, a Tupelo Republican who is heading to Washington after defeating incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Travis Childers earlier this month.
