MIM – Travis Childers not running for N.D. MDOT spot

The Clarion-Ledger published a lengthy story today on the latest troubles with MDOT director Butch Brown, who continues to make headlines for less-than-flattering reasons. You can check out the report here, but I wanted to focus on the upcoming special election for the Northern District Transportation Commission position recently made open by Bill Minor’s death.

The paper lists eight individuals who are rumored to be considering the job: Appalachian Regional Commission Director Mike Armour, former Tupelo Mayor Glenn McCullough (R), former state Sen. Bill Renick (D-Ashland), retired Northern District Transportation Commissioner Zach Stewart (D), state Rep. Warner McBride (D-Courtland), Sen. Merle Flowers (R-Southaven), Southaven Mayor Greg Davis (R), and state Rep. Brian Aldridge (R-Tupelo).

I’ve also heard Sen. Terry Brown (R-Columbus) mentioned as a possible candidate.

Majority in Miss.
