Officials expect more Dems will be changing parties
“It was the things they’re talking about on TV, the economy and everything,” Lewis said Wednesday. “Then Obamacare came along, and it was just too much.”
It’s an attitude state Republicans hope to capitalize on after two big congressional victories Tuesday and moving into the 2011 state and local races that already are under way.
“I think next year you’re going to see this same excitement,” said Mississippi Republican Party Chairman Brad White.
The party hopes to take control of one of the state’s last major Democratic bastions: the Mississippi House. Republicans would have to pick up 12 seats next year.
“People are realizing there’s no such thing as a conservative Democrat,” White said.
