Georgia awaits UF’s surprises
Florida (4-3 overall, 2-3 in SEC play) has lost three in a row and had an open date to regroup.
“I’m sure that they are doing some soul searching and trying to find some answers, too,” UGA head coach Mark Richt said Sunday.
“You have time to change your course a little bit. So I’m sure that’s what they are focusing on right now. We kind of had to do it a very short time frame with just the week to play before Tennessee but we did make some fairly drastic changes, at least in how we’ve been practicing, and that seemed to spark us so I’m sure they are looking for that spark too.”
Richt said the coaching staff and the players stuck together and practices were “ramped up” after the dismal start. Now, the Bulldogs are 4-4 overall, 3-3 in SEC play, and many consider UGA the new favorite to win the East Division.
“And then I think our player-coach relationship was outstanding throughout. I think the players’ relationship with each other was outstanding. We kind of knew we were all we had for each other there for a little bit there . . . we also know that you can easily go back right where you started from if you don’t play like you should.”
