Money flows into the Taylor, Palazzo congressional race
BILOXI — Republican state Rep. Steven Palazzo says his out-raising incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor nearly 2-1 in campaign donations since July is evidence South Mississippi wants a change.
But Taylor said the cash flow to his opponent is from a national political machine, not the people of South Mississippi and he believes people are getting sick of attack ads.
In the latest campaign-finance report, covering July through September, Palazzo raised more than $312,000, compared to Taylor’s less than $160,000. Taylor still leads in overall contributions, with $616,000 to Palazzo’s $535,000, but hundreds of thousands of dollars from national GOP groups are now flowing to help Palazzo.
