Fall of Florida Gators starts with coach Urban Meyer

There isn’t one silver bullet that ripped a hole in the heart of the University of Florida football program. It’s been a series of kill shots that have left Florida in physical and emotional disarray, prognosis bleak. If only one could blame Tigers or Bulldogs or Crimson Tiders.

Point a finger at Urban Meyer. The man once labeled “the Urbanator” has lost his mojo. Perhaps it started to trickle away last Christmas night, when Meyer asked his family: “What if I walk away?”

Meyer eventually came back, changed a few habits to reconcile with his frantic lifestyle, but he’s never really been the same.

The Gators started the season as the No. 3-ranked team in America. They are now unranked, having lost three consecutive regular-season games for the first time since October 1988. This isn’t just a crazy blip in the Gator universe. This qualifies as an official meltdown.
