Simple ways to fix college football in wake of SI revelations
How to fix it? The NCAA already offers insurance policies by which an athlete can guard against an injury that might jeopardize his health before he turns professional. So why not work with the NFL, the NFL players union and the agents and form a working panel, perhaps modeled after the one that advises collegians where they might be drafted?
Maybe you’re eligible for a $500-a-month loan from an agent if you’re projected for the first round, $400 for the second, $300 for the third. The athlete signs a contract to repay the loan, but wouldn’t necessarily be bound to a long-term deal.
