Pickering to seek re-election as auditor
Stacey Pickering, long rumored as a candidate for lieutenant governor in 2011, said Thursday he would seek re-election as state auditor.
“While I am flattered to be talked about for another office, hopefully the voters and taxpayers will see there is still an opportunity to build on what we have done” in the auditor’s office, said Pickering, a Jones County Republican.
Pickering said he plans to run for re-election on his record of recouping almost $4 million in misspent taxpayer funds and of obtaining the convictions of about 60 people for misspending taxpayer funds.
